Started in 2005 to give a platform to the creative voice, TASI’s  annual animation festival Anifest India has established itself as the premier event for youth in digital media. The last edition held in Mumbai in August 2010 was a superhit with three full days of interactive sessions, record entries in the film festival, record daily and overall attendance, and an all-time high in terms of national presence.

This success is a direct result of TASI’s year round efforts at promotion and engagement. We have ventured outside Mumbai to hold substantial monthly events, and created an enthusiastic awareness across cities like Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Goa and Delhi. Sustained online presence through mailers, flyers, social media and other means has directly elevated the quality of our dialogue with our constituents.

Selection of topics and speakers continues to be our strength. The keynote presenter at AI 2010 was a French student filmmaker named Bastien Dubois. He subsequently rose to international fame with an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film for his film “Madagascar – A Jorney Diary”, which he screened at AI 2010.

Top class speakers always participate wholeheartedly, in support of TASI’s principles of non-partisan knowledge sharing and skill building. Extended session durations permitted in-depth coverage and TASI’s famously lively open-mic Q&As.

Outstation participation rose from 40% in 2009 to 60% in 2010, enhancing the national status of the event. It was a stunning sight to see busloads of participants descending straight from all over India to be a part of the event.

TASI Viewers Choice Awards (TVCA) received a record number of 400 global entries. Winners got a huge bounty of prizes from our sponsors along with the much sought after TASI trophy and mug.

This year too our focus is on creative content and a strengthening of traditional topics in animation. The climax as usual will be the TASI Viewers Choice Award for Student, Teacher, Professional Independent and Commissioned categories.

The 3 day festival will have:

  • Interactive workshops
  • “Behind the Scenes”of popular international productions
  • Presentation of their craft by industry experts
  • Artist Panel discussions
  • TASI Viewers Choice Award Nominee screenings
  • TASI Viewers Choice Award voting and Award ceremony
